EEXI Calculation (EEXI Technical File)

EEXI Calculation (EEXI Technical File)

The goal of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent until 2030 and subsequently by another 50 percent until 2050. To achieve these targets, the "Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index" (EEXI) will come into force in June 2021 and will apply to all vessels over 400 GT under MARPOL Annex VI from 2023 onwards.

Marine Center supports you in preparing EEXI Technical file and achieving the CO2 targets and guides you on the way to EEXI compliance.

EEXI improvement measures

  1. Engine power limitation: ≈37%.
  2. Change in fuel type from marine diesel oil (MDO) to liquefied natural gas (LNG): 25%
  3. Propeller retrofit with MMG-Redesign propeller 10%
  4. Installation of a shaft generator: 5.6%
  5. Installation of energy saving devices (e.g.: PBCF, wake equalizing duct): up to 4%.
  6. Installation of rotor sails: 3.8%
  7. 10% increase in transport capacity (deadweight): 3%
